LANSDOWNE PARK REDEVELOPMENT
Paterson Group completed a comprehensive geotechnical investigation to provide foundation design and construction precaution recommendations. The foundation design took into consideration existing fill materials throughout site and high groundwater conditions.
The project included completing functional foundation designs for proposed buildings and the reuse of existing fill materials within the site for landscaping features, such as soil berms within the urban park area, to reduce soil disposal volumes at a registered landfill site. Paterson also performed materials testing and building envelope inspections.
CARDINAL CREEK VILLAGE
Paterson Group undertook a wide variety of studies and testing for Tamarack Homes' large Cardinal Creek Village residential development in the Orleans area of Ottawa. Our services provided include archaeological assessments (from Stage 1 to 4), full geotechnical investigations, hydrogeological studies, environmental site assessments, through to material testing for residential construction.
WEST BLOCK REHABILITATION AND VISITORS WELCOME CENTRE
The rehabilitation of the West Block of Parliament Hill was the most complex rehabilitation project on the hill to date. Paterson was proud to be a part of this project, providing geotechnical advice and inspections, archaeological monitoring and mitigation, environmental remediation services, and building envelope inspections.
OTTAWA CONVENTION CENTRE (now Shaw Centre)
Paterson was the Building Envelope Consultant for the Shaw Centre’s innovative building enclosure. During final design review, and at critical stages of construction, Paterson provided specialized building science expertise to the design and construction teams, to ensure successful design and implementation of challenging technical details.
During construction, Paterson provided quality assurance inspections in relation to all building envelope elements, including the characteristic curved glass facade, and most importantly, the reliable connection and transition between different building envelope systems. Paterson also reviewed field performance testing by third parties, conducted thermographic imaging of the entire building envelope, and performed inspections of the structural steel, fire stopping, and fire proofing throughout this unique building.
